A lot of things had changed in 1994; partly as the follow-ups of
the event in 1993. Our prefects could no longer ride bicycles, the
number was even reduced greatly (perhaps because no one really wanted
to be one - ask how many people rejected the offer)! For the first
time, there was no competition at all for the seats of Malay College
Students Union (MCSU). Maybe because we fought so much in
1992 that we were sick of quarrelling with each other. Maybe because
we learnt our lesson in 1993, what we could do if we stand as one
batch, or maybe because other things were more interesting to my
batch that nobody was willing to challenge the nominated cabinet!
Only Allah can tell the answer...
Generally, everything went perfectly in 1994. Though initially
there was a lot of restrictions, we learnt to adapt very
quickly to these newly-created restrictions. This was the time when
I felt that we all had learnt how to give and take. We were immensely
in great terms with teachers and workers, I think the rapport
is hard to be challenged. In fact I think some teachers and workers
in MC would still remember us as one of the most decent bunch of
boys ever to get through the gates of MCKK - though we might be
not as bright as others!
However, I must say that some of us were carried away with all
the pleasantaries as Form 5s that they failed to realise the magnitude
of SPM. For instance, I myself still regret for not working harder
in 1994. We just hope that the same thing will not happen
to any of our juniors. Make sure you draw a line between your study
and enjoying your last days in college.
