I guess she was really shocked with what she heard from my mouth. I can bet with you that she did not expect it. We did not talk for 2 days after that (it was weekend anyway, I did not see her....). However, I think now she is beginning to learn that she was wrong to think of her country as the best in the region and all other countries are backwards...

Sometimes, I wonder why they keep thinking about this ‘superiority’ issue. Last summer, there was a big, controversial issue in Singapore about Malaysia. Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew warned his people that one day, Singapore might have to rejoin Malaysia. It seems that this issue is a major worry, not only to Singapore’s leaders, but also to all her citizens. Why are they so worried about it? This issue does not exist at all in Malaysia...except during last summer because Mr. Lee Kuan Yew’s remarks were more like disdains to Malaysia, rather than a warning to his people....
